When you want to escape the crowds, south Mallorca keeps wild beaches and near-secret coves. Here they are, from the easiest to the most remote, being honest about how hard each is to reach and with one warning up front: many have no services at all, so come prepared and look after them.

When does each beach get busy?

Es Dolç, far end: the easy, quiet one
The far end of Es Dolç, as you move away from the village, is usually much quieter than the port beach, and you reach it on foot. Sand, shallow water and calm: the easiest option if you want peace without any hassle. Note: driving in via the Camí de Sa Vall is only for registered residents; you go on foot.
Es Marquès: a notch more secluded
Es Marquès is a lovely, slightly more secluded beach (a bit more effort to reach, which thins the crowd). It has a beach bar, 5 Illes Beach, for a drink or a bite without heading back to the village. A good balance of calm and comfort.
Es Carbó: a wild beach, a walk away
Es Carbó is one of the south’s most beautiful: white sand, turquoise water and no buildings at all. You reach it walking along the coast from Colònia (past Es Dolç, count on a good walk) or by water taxi; the Camí de Sa Vall is for registered residents only. Es Caragol: wild by the cape
Near the Cap de ses Salines, Es Caragol is a beautiful wild strand reached by car to the cape car park and then a walk (about 20-30 min). It has no services and is usually calm; one of those beaches that rewards the small effort.
Cala Màrmols: the remote reward
For the adventurous: Cala Màrmols, to the south, is a cove of incredible water reached after a long hike (about 2 hours along the coast from the cape) or by boat. Very remote and with nothing: only for those who want to earn their swim. Bring plenty of water, good shoes and set off with time.
How to enjoy them without harming them
These beaches are this beautiful because they’re barely touched. Come prepared (water, shade, food), take all your rubbish, don’t step on the dunes or the dry Posidonia on the shore, and respect the access rules (the Camí de Sa Vall is for registered residents only).
