What to expect in summer
In summer south Mallorca is in full swing: the sea warm and clear, endless days, terraces full and the village with everything open. It’s the liveliest time and the best for swimming, but also the hottest (August midday is harsh), busiest and priciest. If you want a seaside buzz and don’t mind sharing the beach, this is your season.

The beaches in summer
Beaches fill early: Es Trenc and its car parks are often full by mid-morning. Tricks: go early or mid-afternoon, or use the quieter coves. The village beaches empty at lunchtime.
The heat: how to handle it
With 30 °C plus, plan the day like the locals: beach and sea first thing, lunch and rest through the middle hours (use the apartment’s air conditioning), and back out as evening falls. Drink plenty of water, wear a hat and sunscreen. The heat is fine if you don’t fight the midday.
Book ahead
In July and August, book everything early: accommodation (better direct), car hire, the terrace table for dinner and the Cabrera excursion. The earlier, the better price and availability.
