Many people arrive at Es Trenc expecting a row of beach bars like other beaches, and get a surprise: there are very few, and that’s on purpose. Es Trenc is a protected natural beach, and that lack of services is exactly what keeps it so wild and beautiful. Here’s what’s really there —with the real Google ratings—, what to expect on prices and how to organise yourself so you don’t go hungry or thirsty.

  • The reality: almost all of Es Trenc has no services (protected beach).
  • On the sand: only two basic beach bars (one towards Colònia, one towards Ses Covetes).
  • Prices: high, like almost everything on the beachfront in season.
  • The smart move: bring water and a snack, or eat at Ses Covetes or in Colònia.
  • Cash: bring some just in case.

Es Trenc is a protected beach: few services

Es Trenc is several kilometres of white sand within a protected area, which means most of the beach has no beach bars or kiosks: no shade, no bar, no water. It’s not an oversight, it’s what protects it. So the further you get from the access points, the emptier —and more service-free— it is.

The 2 beach bars on the sand

On the Es Trenc sand itself there are only two beach bars, basic, for a cold drink and a snack (not for a proper meal). One is towards the Colònia/Es Marquès access and the other, the “middle” one, more towards Ses Covetes. Here are their live listings, with their real Google rating (updates automatically) and whether they’re open now:

As you can see from the ratings, don’t expect much: they’ll keep you from dying of thirst, little more. If you want a proper meal, the Ses Covetes end has real restaurants (Ran de Mar, Bar Esperanza…) — but that’s no longer the Es Trenc sand, it’s a different spot; you’ll find it in the Ses Covetes guide.

What to expect on prices

Set your expectations right: on the beachfront, in season and in a protected area, prices are high. Don’t expect set-menu prices. Bring cash in case the card machine fails or there’s a queue, and above all bring your water: it’s the most appreciated and the most expensive thing there.

The smartest plan for eating at Es Trenc

The plan that works: for a beach day, bring your own cool box with water, fruit and a snack, and forget about finding a table on the sand. And if you want a proper meal, don’t eat on the beach: head down to Colònia de Sant Jordi or up to the village of Ses Salines, where you eat better and cheaper. Es Trenc for the sand and the swim; the table, in the village.

Es Trenc is a protected natural area: don’t leave rubbish, don’t step on the dunes and take everything you bring with you. Keeping it this beautiful is up to all of us.

Practical tips

Four things that save your day: bring plenty of water and a snack; cash just in case; a parasol, because there’s no natural shade; and go early, as the car park and the few places to eat fill up fast. How to get there and park, in the Es Trenc guide.

Frequently asked questions

Are there beach bars at Es Trenc?

Yes, but only two, basic ones, right on the sand: the Xiringuito (towards the Colònia/Es Marquès access) and the Chiringuito del medio (towards Ses Covetes). It’s a protected natural beach, so the rest of the beach has no services at all.

Are they expensive?

Yes, like almost everything on the beachfront in season: expect high prices. Bring cash just in case and plenty of water.

Where do you eat best near Es Trenc?

For a proper meal, the Ses Covetes end has real restaurants, or head down to Colònia de Sant Jordi. On the Es Trenc sand itself, better to snack and bring water than to look for a table.

Who it’s for (and who it isn’t)

Great if you want a cold drink and a snack right on the Es Trenc sand.
Skip it if you expect a proper meal: for that, head to Colònia or eat at Ses Covetes.

Local tip: the “middle” one (towards Ses Covetes) usually rates better; bring cash and your own water, as prices are high on a protected beach.
